The scale of foreign trade in Shaanxi Province hit a record high in 2022

According to Xi'an Customs statistics, the total import and export trade value of Shaanxi Province in 2022 was 483.53 billion yuan, an increase of 2% over the same period last year, a record high. Among them, exports were 301.13 billion yuan, up 17.8 percent; imports were 182.4 billion yuan, down 16.4 percent, with a trade surplus of 118.73 billion yuan over the same period.

Mainly presents the following characteristics:

First, the import and export of general trade grew rapidly and the proportion increased. The total import and export value of processing trade was 247.96 billion yuan, down 3%, accounting for 51.3 of the province's total import and export value, of which exports were 162.23 billion yuan, up 11.5 percent, imports were 85.73 billion yuan, down 22.2 percent; general trade imports and exports were 171.14 billion yuan, up 31.4 percent, accounting for 35.4 percent of the province's total import and export value, up 7.9 percentage points from 2021, of which exports were 99.8 billion yuan, up 42.8 percent, and imports were 71.34 billion yuan, up 18.2 percent.

Second, ASEAN has become the third largest trading partner of the province's import and export. For ASEAN, 66.01 billion yuan, an increase of 44.5, accounting for 13.7. For EU $63.94 billion, an increase of 8.4 per cent, or 13.2 per cent. In the same period, Shaanxi Province imported and exported 112.89 billion yuan to countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative" route, an increase of 41 percent, accounting for 23.3 percent of the province's total import and export value, and 190.28 billion yuan to other RCEP countries, an increase of 1.2 percent, accounting for 39.4 percent of the province's total import and export value.

Third, the number of foreign trade entities in the province increased and the vitality of private enterprises increased. In 2022, there will be 4615 foreign trade enterprises with import and export performance in the province, an increase of 11.2 over 2021. Among them, the import and export of foreign-invested enterprises was 264.45 billion yuan, accounting for 54.7 percent of the province's total import and export value; the import and export of private enterprises was 188.13 billion yuan, an increase of 27 percent, accounting for 38.9 percent, of which the export was 124.86 billion yuan, an increase of 32.7 percent, and the import was 63.27 billion yuan, an increase of 17.1 percent; the import and export of state-owned enterprises was 30.05 billion yuan, accounting for 6.2 percent.

Fourth, the main export commodities are mechanical and electrical products. The export of mechanical and electrical products was 261.37 billion billion yuan, an increase of 13.2 percent, accounting for 86.8 percent of the province's total export value, mainly including integrated circuits, automatic data processing equipment and its parts, solar cells, automobiles (including chassis), and lithium-ion batteries. Other major export commodities include agricultural products, textile yarns and products, and basic organic chemicals.

Fifth, the main imported commodities are still mechanical and electrical products. Imports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 114.15 billion billion yuan, down 27.1 percent, accounting for 62.6 percent of the province's total import value, mainly including imports of integrated circuits, automatic data processing equipment and its parts, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Other major imports include coal and lignite, iron ore, soybeans, unwrought copper and copper, and crude oil.
