Pyracantha (Pyracantha fortuneana (Maxim.) H. L. Li) is an evergreen shrub of Rosaceae Pyracantha with dark brown old branches. The leaves are obovate, with blunt serrations on the edge, curved tooth tips and hairless on both sides. Petiole is short, glabrous or pubescent when tender. Inflorescence is compound-shaped, petals are white and nearly round. Fruit ball, color is orange or dark red. Its flowering period is from March to May and its fruiting period is from August to November. Because of its red fruit, branches on the sharp thorns, hence the name fire buckthorn.
